2010 U.S. Chess Championship


Two dozen chess players will compete for prize money. Competitors include the defending U.S. Champion, the winner of the 2009 U.S. Senior Open Championship, the winner of the 2009 U.S. Junior Chess Championship, the winner of the 2010 ICC State Champion of Champions, the 2009 U.S. Women’s Champion, the top five finishers of the 2009 U.S. Open Championship, and the top 10 U.S. players by rating of the United States Chess Federation. There will also be four wild card spots. Spectators are welcome.

NCAA College Basketball Tournament in St. Louis

The 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament involves 65 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 16, 2010 and will conclude with the championship game on April 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event will also be the first Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium.


A total of 65 teams were selected for the tournament. Thirty of the teams earned automatic bids by winning their conference tournaments. The automatic bid of the Ivy League, which does not conduct a postseason tournament, went to its regular-season champion Cornell. The remaining 34 teams were granted "at-large" bids, which are extended by the NCAA Selection Committee.
